The power of Law & Order

A reporter writes a short but amusing article about the prevelance, spin-offs, and side effects of the TV show, Law &amp Order.

Happy (belated) Birthday, Aaron and Jericho!

March 27th is the one day a year that Jericho and Aaron are the same age. The 27th is Jer’s birthday, and the 28th is the one-year-older Aaron’s. To celebrate this spiffiness, they had a joint party on the 27th. Assorted folks converged at Aaron’s house for booze, bbq, and laughter.

I can’t remember the last time I was scared by a storm. It must have been many years ago, back when I was a little kid. Tonight is one to add to my memories.

Yesterday, my mother-in-law mentioned they were expecting bad weather in Houston - tornados, hail, that sort of fun stuff. I thought some of it might hit the Austin area too, but I didn’t bother checking forecasts. I’ve also been turning off Weatherbug lately to reduce the number of active processes on my computer. If I hadn’t, I probably wouldn’t have been so surprised when the rainstorm woke me this morning around 4am. That wasn’t so unusual. It’s spring in Texas. We expect the most wet weather of the year right now. What was unusual was when the rumble of rain was replaced with higher-pitched clackings. I realized it had started to hail.

The hail woke Dale. I got out of bed and walked into the living room. The noise from the hail was magnified by the two-story open area and was extremely loud. It was enough that I started to get scared and was retreating to the bedroom when Dale emerged. Together we peeked out the back door.

The hail and rain were also coming in at an angle that had the ice pellets beating hard on all the rear windows of the house. It was so loud I was starting to be afraid that it might break the windows. It may be interesting to see the car tomorrow, since it’s parked in the driveway.

Weatherbug says we’re still under a severe thunderstorm warning.

This Storm Has A History Of Producing Large Hail And Damaging Winds. Weak Rotation Continues With This Thunderstorm. Hail Up To Dime Size And Wind Gusts To 60 Mph Will Remain Possible With This Storm As It Reaches The Brushy Creek Area By 430 AM And The Round Rock Area By 440 AM.

Well, it’s hit the Brushy Creek area, so that means my Round Rock friends are now getting to experience it.
