poor kitty
Bailey has been throwing up repeatedly for the last 2 1/2 days. Despite the vomiting, she only seemed to be mildly less chipper than her usual self. Still, we called the vet this morning, and Dale took her in at 11. An hour and a half later, he came home with her.
ME: So, what’s wrong with her?
DALE: Nothing.
ME: What??
DALE: She’s a little dehydrated, but other than that, she’s fine.
So, after 1.5 hours of poking, prodding, and x-rays, the vet could find no reason why Bailey would have thrown up about a dozen times over two days. The vet gave us some bland cat food and medicine, and injected some saline under Bailey’s skin to help with the dehydration. Poor kitty leaked water out of her shoulder for a while after coming home.
Since she’s been home, Bailey has shown no signs of being ill. She went straight to the bowls of cat food we have set out, and she’s been drinking water. Dale said everyone at the clinic commented on what a sweet girl she was and how well-behaved.
Though I am very glad that my little girl is o.k., I wish it hadn’t cost us $172 to find out that there’s no apparent reason for her barfing. Alas, it’s just cost prohibitive to get pet insurance for 7 cats.
